The Senior Revenue Associate will be responsible for the accounting of wholesale energy sales, preparation of journal entries, and analysis associated with these activities. RWE Clean Energy is seeking an innovative and talented individual for the position. The successful candidate will be expected to be an expert in energy accounting and analysis with an emphasis on Power Purchase Agreements while acting as a resource to other departments within the company. The candidate will read and understand contractual obligations for revenue recognition.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze all revenue sources for proper revenue recognition of electricity sales contracted via Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), merchant energy sales, accounting for imbalance energy settlements
- Prepare revenue journal entries during the monthly close process and perform reconciliations of all related accounts
- Understand settlement models based on executed contracts
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing of internal/external customers across various energy markets
- Understand meter validation and shadow calculations process
- Maintain and enhance all Accounting systems, including SAP and various complex Excel models
- Manage auditor requests related to revenue and receivables, ensuring timely completion of supporting schedules
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with front, middle, and back office teams
- Assist in special projects
- Contribute towards process improvement and software implementation initiatives
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships
- Demonstrated desire to learn about the company and the renewables space
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
- Strong leadership and communication and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
- Regular business hours: overtime, late evenings, possible weekends, holidays during closing and high peak periods.
- Able to travel for a few days out of the year
- Strong ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Enthusiastic about providing good customer service experience for internal and external customers
- Eagerness to learn and take on challenges in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment
