Director, Business & Contractor Development – Southwest U.S.

The National Energy Improvement Fund, LLC (NEIF), the nation’s only Certified B-Corp lender for energy efficiency improvements, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented professional to develop and deepen relationships with high-integrity HVAC, remodeling and energy efficiency and renewable energy contractors. The primary focus is to grow the company’s residential energy improvement financing volume in the company’s Southwest region (AZ, CO, NM, UT), promoting NEIF’s mission of increasing the affordability of improvements that make homes and buildings efficient, safe, healthy and comfortable. The ideal candidate will have experience working with contractors who service the energy efficiency and HVAC industry and the ability to engage with program partners such as utilities, distributors, manufacturers and trade associations to increase usage of NEIF’s programs. Experience in incorporating financing into the contractor's sales process is advantageous, but not mandatory.
FLSA Classification: Exempt, Full Time
Compensation: On-Target Earnings (OTE) $100,000 to $175,000, Base Salary & Monthly Commission based on closed loan volume, after meeting monthly thresholds and targets.
Reports To: VP- Business and Contractor Development, Managing Member in charge of Residential and to the Executive Management team
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Work Environment: Candidate should reside in the company's Southwest region (AZ, CO, NM, UT). Expected first week on site at NEIF HQ in Allentown, PA, then quarterly on-site meetings and as needed.
Travel Required: Regional for contractor outreach and to attend events etc. (estimated, 40% of time).
Expectation and Goals:
Key goals of the position are:
- Grow the Approved Contractors network in assigned territory
- Increase loan offerings usage by designated Approved Contractors
- Reach and exceed quarterly performance targets (Performance vs goals will be assessed quarterly and as needed)
Business Development Management
- Grow NEIF’s Approved Contractor Network and drive residential energy improvement financing loan volume in designated programs and territories by establishing new and nurturing Approved Contractor relationships
- Perform regular outbound business development calls and visits to designated contractors. Approximately 40% of time is expected to be spent in customer facing meetings with contractors.
- Be proficient in articulating the NEIF unique value proposition
- Act as the Primary Business Development Contact for prospective and designated Approved Contractors, by developing personal relationships with the contractors’ management and sales teams, providing training, support and insight on industry trends and creative business development practices which result in increased energy home improvement financing volume
- Participate in the onboarding of new contractors by conducting training on all relevant programs and working with the Contractor Development team to encourage embedding all relevant NEIF’s badges, links and other sales tools in contractor’s marketing, website and sales practices
- Assist Approved Contractors in integrating NEIF’s financing programs into their sales process. Remain mindful that loan volume translates to saved energy and lower climate-changing emissions, which benefit both our communities and the environment
- Provide direct support to contractors, including sales ride-alongs and, working with the NEIF Marketing team, advice on integration of NEIF’s marketing campaigns and promotions
- Engage with trade associations, utilities and program partners in cooperation with the NEIF VP-Partnerships to develop and expand contractor relationships, including attending and presenting/exhibiting at member meetings, trade shows and events
- Work internally with the Contractor Development and Contractor Relationship teams to answer contractor questions, support the lending process, and provide information on new or changed contractor contacts
- Act as the Associate Business Development Contact on designated Approved Contractors, teaming with the Primary Business Development Contact providing back-up and additional support, as needed, to designated Contractors
Business Development Planning
- Use the CRM system and other tools to support planning, identify opportunities, and keep business development activities up-to-date
- Provide timely and realistic forecasts
- Act as voice of customer, advocating for innovative solutions to better serve the market and enable the NEIF Energy Lending Specialist to flourish
- Provide feedback and input regarding target markets, trends, and use cases to support market expansion
Business Analysis
- Provide regular reporting to Management on Business Development trends, business relationships, and outreach and production statistics
- Maintain detailed up-to-date working knowledge of relevant NEIF programs and procedures
- Maintain general up-to-date working knowledge of all services offered by NEIF
- Maintain awareness of the current state of the energy home improvement industry, including market and competitive trends and regulatory impact with specific awareness of opportunities and developments in the territory
